Read Across America

Friday March 2:
That day marks Dr. Seuss’s birthday and the National Read Across America Day. It is a day that is dedicated to encourage children’s literature. The challenge for that day was to get students to pass 250 AR quizzes in one day. Because the students made, they got to vote on what character she was going to dress up as. The Options were: Toot the Pig, Ms. Frizzle, Clifford the Big Red Dog, and Effie Trinket from the Hunger Games, which the students ended up choosing.

Wednesday March 7:
That was the day this year’s celebration took place. Pre-school through fifth grade gets to participate. They do different activities, like listening to books being read by guest readers and make crafts that coordinate with the stories.

March 23:
On that day there was a dress-up contest for students. K-2 dressed up as their favorite character from “The Lorax”. The top three Winners each got a book with the champion also receiving tickets for the movie. 3-12 dressed up as their favorite characters from “The Hunger Games”. The Top three Winners also got the books, with the winner receiving a movie ticket
